MUSICAL: CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES

Date: February 11, 2014 Time: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

Event Description MUSICAL: CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES At 7 PM, Tuesday, February 11th, Church Basement Ladies, A Mighty Fortress is Our Basement, a Musical written by Stowell and Fuehike, with music and lyrics by Drew Jansen, will play in the Graham Memorial Auditorium for Graham Concert Association subscribers. It has been playing to sellout crowds around the country. The musical play is set in 1960 in the basement kitchen of a Lutheran Church in Minnesota. The church basement kitchen throughout much of America is often the heart and soul of any church. The cast includes the pastor, three main kitchen cooks and one daughter who run the kitchen and care for the congregation. The teenage daughter is getting ready for her first high heels and her confirmation. It's about growing up and letting go. Present are the traditional matriarch and kitchen boss Vivian and hard-working, plain-spoken, laugh-a-minute farm wife Mavis. Also present is organized and efficient Karin who actually runs the kitchen and is trying hard to be a modern mom to energetic 15-year-old Beverly, who can't wait another minute to be an adult. Trying to keep peace, order and sanity among all is patient,good-natured but seriously outnumbered Pastor Gunderson, who was widowed three years before and is looking for love in all the right places. This professional company is playing in Graham before a four-night run in Richardson February 13-16. Because the performance begins at 7 PM, additional tickets will be available at the Graham Memorial Auditorium for $15 at 6:45 PM.
